Tree from scrap wood

A2-035

Recycled items

  • Left over wood (I used a piece that is 10cm by 10cm thick)

  • Long, thin piece of wood for the trunk

  • Christmas decorations

Also needed

  • White paint and brush

  • Christmas stamp and paint

  • Wood glue

  • Mitre/hand saw

  • Hammer and nails

  • Work bench

  • Hand saw

Method

  1. First, measure five pieces of wood and a trunk for the tree. Each one 6cm smaller than the other. I used the following measurements – 12, 18, 24, 30, 36 cm – which allowed me to stack them on top of each other.

  2. Work on a solid and stable surface and cut the pieces with the mitre or hand saw according to the measurements. Use a hand saw to smooth the edges. Wipe them clean with a damp cloth.

  3. Glue them on top of each other with the wood glue to form a wooden Christmas tree.

  4. Nail the trunk to the newly made tree and to paint it white. Allow to dry.
