Crown Gem

M-108

One thing that always catches my eye is a crown. They come in all sorts of glorious shapes and sizes, and let’s face it, most girls would love to be treated as a princess, meet prince charming and live happily ever after! I couldn’t resist making one for myself to celebrate how fortunate I am to have a charming prince and to wear an invisible crown because I am a child of the King of kings.

Recycled items:

  • wire lampshade frame
  • 16 metal spoons
  • old brooch
  • ribbon (length and width depend on size of the frame)
  • beads (a handful of very small ones)

You will also need:

  • wire cutter
  • blue tack (e.g. Prestik)
  • glue gun
  • fabric glue
  1. Using a wire cutter, snip of the spoon handles from their bowls.
  2. Place the spoon-bowls edge to edge to form a wreath, or secure them temporarily with blue tack to the frame as required. When you are satisfied with the layout, glue them into place. You will need loads of glue and so I suggest sprinkling beautiful beads about to disguise it.
  3. Use ribbon to decorate the crown as you wish. You could weave it around the base and the top as shown.
  4. Position the brooch as a centre piece and secure with glue. Leave to dry before enjoying your glimmering garland.
