I have some exciting news this month: my new book, From Drab to Fab, is now available in South Africa from all leading book shops!
It’s an upmarket craft book that shows you how to transform unwanted old and everyday objects into beautiful décor items. It’s all about up-cycling the most ordinary items into grand and desirable pieces. To make it very easy, you will find step-by-step photographs as well as instructions for a variety of crafts, such as crackle glazing, gilding, papier-mâché and ageing. You can choose from a huge range of objects to make, so it’s a great addition to the bookshelf or coffee table of any crafter, whether you’ve been crafting for years or you’re just starting out.
Plans for the month
This month, I’m going to be focusing on entertainment. Last month was so full of spring cleaning, housewarming gift ideas and how to upgrade doorknobs, that I didn’t get round to sharing the very simple recycled table ideas with you, so I’ll show you this month.
I am also going to show you how to make:
- Napkin rings from recycled pipes
- Herb basket to give as a gift to your guests
- How to keep the little ones busy during mealtimes
- Homemade table mats
- Centrepiece decorations
- Personalised table settings
- Up-cycle tiles to washi-coasters
- How to use the same cutlery with a different look
- How to change ordinary crockery into unique pieces
- Old silverware become table decorations
My bonus of the month is my “tapas of the mind” new ideas on how to preserve the beauty of pressed leaves on objects.
Let me know what you think…
I’d love to hear what your thoughts about the book or any of the ideas I discuss here on my website, so feel free to leave a comment. See you next month!
