Method
- Clean the leather chair with a damp cloth, use a fine grade of sandpaper and get rid of any uneven areas. Wipe away any dust with the damp cloth.
- Place the chair on a spot sheet in a well-ventilated area and wear a dust mask.
- Spray the chair with a thin coat of spray paint. I used Rust -oleum, Fabric and vinyl, gold colour. Hold the can about 30 cm from the surface of the chair and keep the can moving while you spray. Don’t worry about full coverage during this first coat of paint.
- I let the first coat dry for about 50 minutes before spraying my second coat. Final inspection: You may have a few spots here and there to touch up.
- Let them dry completely for about 1 day before you start to paste the leather pattern on it.
- Draw a template free hand on cardboard and cut it out. Use the template and draw the pattern on the wrong side of the leather fabric. Use a fabric scissor and cut it out. Decide how you want to arrange the patterns on the chair. Patterns can be in any design and can overlap each other. Paint the fabric glue on the wrong side of the white leather patterns and place it as designed. Allow to dry.
- When it is completely dry cover the chair with a leather varnish. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
