These plaster flowers will become an instant hit in any home. They have so many uses – from paperweights to decorations for just about anything.

Recycled items

  • silk flowers (any colour)

Also needed

  • plaster of Paris

  • spoon

  • deep plastic/glass mug (big enough to dip the flowers into)

  • wire clothes hanger

  • binder clips or clothes pegs

  • old newspaper

Method

  1. Mix some plaster of Paris according to the manufacturer’s instructions, making sure that there are no lumps.

  2. Pour the plaster into the mug, then dip the flowers one by one into the plaster. Gently shake off excess plaster and suspend the flowers upside-down from a hanger, securing them with binder clips or clothes pegs. You may need to protect the area beneath them with newspaper. (Wash out the plaster of Paris container immediately to prevent the plaster from setting.)

  3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 until you are satisfied with the overall
