Recycled items
-
Old small tin
-
Old curtain pole finial with screw end
-
Sheets from an old paperback book/newspaper
Also needed
-
Quick fix cement
-
Potting soil and seeds
Method
-
Screw the old curtain pole finial into the bottom of the tin.
-
Mix together quick fix cement in a bowl (follow the instructions on the pack) and fill the tin to the brim with the cement. Leave aside to dry.
-
When it’s dry, take the paper and wrap it around the mould.
-
Bunch the bottom of the paper together underneath the mould.
-
Do the same thing with an extra sheet, covering the seam of the first piece of paper.
-
Press the paper-covered mould down on a hard surface to make it sturdy.
-
Remove the mould and your sheets should stand up as a little paper pot, which you can then fill with soil and plant some seeds in.
-
Place them next to each other in a wooden frame to support each other.
-
When the seedlings appear, you can place the paper pot in a plastic or ceramic pot and support with more soil. No need to remove the paper from the seedlings.
