The following recycled items are required:
- Lace doilies (small ones)
- The following items are also required:
- Glass or metal bowls (as moulds)
- Clingfilm
- Bottle (as a prop)
- Powertex/ fabric stiffener
- Blunt knife
- Instructions:
- Firstly, we need to prepare the mould. Cover the metal or glass bowl with cling wrap. Place the bowl face down on top of a bottle. This will elevate your mould above the working surface.
- Work with one doily at a time. Place the doily in the bowl and cover it with Powertex/Fabric Stiffener. Ensure that the whole doily is saturated and if needed use your fingers to submerge it.
- Drape the doily evenly over the mould’s surface. Remove any air bubbles and excess glue by stretching and smoothing it out with your fingers.
- Leave to dry for 8 – 10 hours.
- The doily must be completely dry before removing it from the mould, otherwise it will reshape. Gently remove it from the mould with a blunt knife.
- Place the doily on a tea cup and decorate. Caution: When you work with Powertex/fabric stiffener, be sure to have running water close at hand and protect your work surface. It is recommended that you wear an apron to protect your clothes.
